Charlotte Sampson

Charlotte is a fourth year Arts and Science student pursuing a double major in Mathematics and French, planning one day to teach high school mathematics. Hailing from Vancouver, BC and having never visited Atlantic Canada, she was recruited to play on the Women's Varsity Soccer team. On top of soccer, she is a Teaching Assistant for the French Department, and also tutors students in high school mathematics, putting into practice her passion for helping others learn, In the future, she hopes to receive a bilingual Bachelor of Education, equipping her to embark on a mission to break the negative stigma surrounding math, particularly the defeatist mindset that exists primarily in females.

Sarah Tranquilla

Sarah is a fourth year mathematics major with a minor in finance. Sarah is graduating in April 2019, and she plans to continue her career with Employment and Social Development Canada, where she currently works part time. She grew up just outside of Fredericton, in Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick. She attended Fredericton High School, the place where her passion for math began. In her spare time, Sarah is a teaching assistant for first year calculus, and tutors math privately. Sarah enjoys being totally immersed in math each and every day. Sarah believes that it is extremely important to develop a social connection with others studying math, and the Math Society is one of the best ways to foster those connections.


Hannah Plant
VP Logistics

Hannah is currently in her second year working towards a Bachelor of Science with a major in Mathematics and Economics. With intentions on using her problem-solving skills obtained from a math degree, she plans to attend law school after her undergrad. She believes in the fundamental necessity of mathematics in society, and loves to encourage others to consider the importance and beauty of the science. When Hannah is taking a break from the textbooks, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and participating in inter-mural volleyball. Not far from her hometown of Sussex, New Brunswick she loves living in Fredericton and wants to make a UNB a better place by inspiring others to challenge themselves and improve their problem solving and analytical skills through mathematics.


Kyle Bragdon
VP Social Media

Kyle is a second year bachelor of science student and is majoring in mathematics. He comes from Riverview, New Brunswick. If Kyle isn’t studying for assignments or midterms, he enjoys playing games and hanging out with family and friends. Kyle wants to eventually become a high school math and science teacher. His mission is to help the students accomplish each of their individual goals, from providing deeper understanding and guidance to those who excel and want to go farther in math, to allowing students who struggle to fully understand the purpose of math and how useful it really is. He overall wants to promote mathematics to all students and show the subject can be more enjoyable than it seems.


Gill Gumby
VP Events

Gillian is a third year Arts students pursuing a major in Mathematics and a minor in French, with the hope of eventually teaching at the high school level. From Kentville, NS, she is a member of the UNB Women’s Varsity basketball team and UNB Global Brigades. Spending most of her free time throughout high school coaching and tutoring fostered a passion for teaching and developed many leadership skills she hopes to put to use in the future after she receives a Bachelor of Education.


Sarah Kelly
VP Operations

Sarah Kelly is a first year Science student from Fredericton interested in pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Chemistry over the next four years. From a very young age, Sarah has always been passionate about helping others, spreading positivity, and being involved in her community. Sarah has a great deal of leadership experience from her involvement in many committees in the past – including her most recent role as the Vice President of the Student Representative Council at her high school. She is very excited to expand on her community involvement as a member of the Math Society this year! Outside of the classroom, Sarah swims competitively on the UNB Reds Swim Team, and is also a coach for the Pre-Competitive Program on the Fredericton Aquanauts Swim Team. She is always excited when given the opportunity to share her passions with those around her, especially with the youth in her community. After university, Sarah’s dream is to become a teacher, where she will strive to have a positive impact on every student that she meets, while inspiring them to believe in themselves and to always be creative with the exciting learning opportunities that exist around them.
