Charlotte Sampson

Charlotte is a second year student from Vancouver, British Columbia studying Arts and Sciences. She plans to major in Mathematics and minor in French, and in later years plans to receive a Bachelor of Education. This is with the ultimate goal of teaching high school math in a French Immersion program back home in BC. She is extremely excited to be a member of the UNB Math Society Executive and hopes to get as many people involved as possible! She is also a Women’s Soccer Player for the UNB Varsity Reds.


Richard Du

Hailing from Fredericton, NB, Richard is a third year mathematics student at the University of New Brunswick who is very excited to help launch the UNB Math Society. Richard has had a passion for math for most of his life, from learning multiplication tables and grinding out Kumon workbooks to competing in math competitions.  Over the next few years, he looks to ponder deeper into the field of math education, which he finds interesting.  Richard works as a tutor at the Math Learning Center on UNB campus and also teaches a local math enrichment class for kids aged 10-15. During his spare time, Richard enjoys playing music, cooking, badminton and Kendrick Lamar

Jonathan Tang

Growing up in Fredericton, Jonathan is a second year engineering student at the University of New Brunswick, planning to graduate with a minor in math. Ever since he was a child, Jonathan has always had a keen interest in applied mathematics, as well as participating in several math competitions throughout middle and high school. He looks forward to creating new student interest regarding math and sharing his passion with everyone in the exciting events to come. Although he is a new addition to the UNB Math Society, Jonathan hopes to bring fresh ideas that will further cement Math Society as one of the top Science Societies. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys working out at the Currie Centre, playing video games and beating co-president Richard Du in badminton.

Eke Kalu

Eke is a second year Biochemistry student from Lagos, Nigeria with plans to minor in Mathematics. Eke is very enthusiastic about being a UNB Math Society Executive this year because it affords him an opportunity to depict the complexities of Math in new and exciting ways. Eke works as an Operator at the CETL Equipment Pool and enjoys word search puzzles and board games in his spare time. Eke is also a Student Representative on the UNB Fredericton Senate this year.

Amber Kelly

Growing up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Amber has always been a keen, engaged, and enthusiastic student. Amber’s passion for Math sparked in high school because of an influential teacher. It was during her university career that Amber realized that the wanted to pursue the challenging and complex discipline of mathematics. Since declaring her double major in biology and mathematics, Amber has wanted to end the negative stigmas towards math and spread her love of the subject to others. She is eager to bring forth her positive attitude and love for math to the society this year. In her limited spare time, Amber enjoys eating sushi, reading Harry Potter, and spending quality time with family and friends.

James Tang

James is currently studying Biochemistry at the University of New Brunswick with plans to minor in Mathematics. Growing up in Fredericton, James discovered very early on his love for math; he enjoyed challenging himself in various math competitions and enriched classes throughout middle school and high school. He is looking forward to build upon the interest that the UNB Math Society attracted last year, and hopes to help erase the negative consensus that people hold towards math. James likes to spend his free time working out, volunteering, and playing badminton.
